At the June 1, 2026 Everett School Committee meeting, Millier Cardello participated in several procedural and substantive items and spoke during discussion of cafeteria operations and student meals.

Cardello first seconded the motion “to waive the reading and place the records on file.” Later, Cardello moved to “excuse our guest,” and voted yes on that procedural motion. Cardello also voted yes on the committee’s financial actions to “submit bills and payroll in the amount of $2,271,989.40” and to “pay bills and payroll in the amount of $2,271,989.40.” At the end of the meeting, Cardello voted yes in roll call to “enter executive session and adjourn in executive session for litigation strategy and potential litigation under General Law Chapter 30A, Section 21(a)(3),” related to the Ridley lawsuit matter.

During the meeting, Cardello thanked the chair and said, “I just want to say that, recently I hit the cafeteria and I felt that this in fact, I’ve hit, like, three of the schools this school season, and I honestly have to say, I see the flow of things getting better.” Cardello continued, “The way it’s set up from the outside of the cafeteria all the way through, it all makes sense,” and added, “And fortunately, our students don’t have to pay for lunch.”

Cardello also raised a positive assessment of the food itself, saying, “But I have noticed vast improvements even in the food taste, the quality, because I’ve had my complaints in the past.” Cardello concluded, “I honestly feel like we’ve come a long way with this,” and thanked the person leading the effort: “Thank you for leading this whole charge, and I think everything’s going well. Thanks.”

In the course of the meeting, Cardello supported the wellness policy discussion and characterized the cafeteria changes as an improvement in both workflow and food quality.

Everett School Committee (Tuesday April 28, 2026)

Millier Cardello, a School Committee member, participated briefly and procedurally in the Everett School Committee meeting on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.

During the public hearing on school choice, Cardello helped move the meeting forward by seconding the motion to open the hearing. Their only recorded spoken contribution in the extracted record was a concise “Second.” After the hearing discussion concluded, Cardello voted in favor of closing the public hearing on school choice.

Cardello also supported the meeting’s final procedural action. When the committee moved to adjourn, Cardello voted yes on adjournment.

Across the meeting, Cardello’s recorded role was limited to these parliamentary actions. The available record does not show them raising questions, making substantive comments, or staking out a position beyond supporting the opening and closing of the school choice hearing and the adjournment of the meeting. Their participation was therefore notable mainly for aiding the committee’s procedural handling of the hearing and the meeting’s conclusion.

Everett School Committee-Budget Committee of the Whole (Thursday April 16, 2026)

At the Everett School Committee–Budget Committee of the Whole meeting on Thursday, April 16, 2026, School Committee Member Millier Cardello participated actively in the budget discussion, asking a series of practical questions and offering support for the district’s leadership and staff.

Cardello first said, “So I want to follow-up because this isn’t something that a lot of newer people in our community are not familiar with,” before asking how students are accepted into the BRIGHT program and how the BRIGHT/BRYTE process identifies students. She then shifted to salary questions, saying, “And I have one more question unrelated to that since you’re doing the whole budget thing.” She explained that community members had asked her about teacher compensation and asked publicly so the answer would be on the record: “How did they get their raises? What is the how does this program start from the time they are hired…? How is that structure started, and how do they start going up the ladder?”

Cardello asked whether a cost-of-living adjustment was built into the structure and followed up, “So if it’s a 3% raise, there’s also the cost of living that has to be there.” She added, “Our teachers definitely deserve that.” She then asked who decides starting salaries, and specifically raised the example of custodians, asking whether pay is set by comparison with other cities or based on historical practice.

Later in the meeting, Cardello praised the administration, saying, “I have to compliment you and your team and the superintendent as well and his team. It’s absolutely amazing.” She added that the district was “a wonderful district” and said the mayor understands the budget issues, noting Barrett’s background as a student, teacher, principal, and assistant superintendent. She also briefly interjected, “Thank you.”

Cardello raised one more safety-related issue about school transportation, saying, “May seem like an off the wall question,” but noting concerns about getting into and out of the school van. She suggested replacing the stool with “something safer,” such as a stepped device that would be more stable on the ground.

She voted yes on the motion to recess for 10 minutes and yes on the motion to adjourn.

Everett School Committee (Monday April 6, 2026)

At the Everett School Committee meeting on Monday, April 6, 2026, Millier Cardello participated briefly but clearly in support of the superintendent’s presentation and the committee’s routine business.

Cardello began by acknowledging the chair, saying, “Thank you, Madam Chair.” During discussion of the superintendent’s remarks, Cardello addressed the superintendent directly through the chair and said, “Through you to the superintendent, I absolutely love the idea of the strategic initiative that is going to bring us above and beyond.” Cardello added, “I mean, we’re doing so well, but that is such a great program.” These comments placed Cardello firmly in support of the proposed strategic initiative and characterized the program as valuable and positive for the district.

Cardello also handled committee business by making the motion to accept the superintendent’s report and place it on file. The motion was stated as, “Madam Chair, I’d like to move to accept the report of the separate superintendent and place on file.” Cardello then followed with, “So moved, Madam Chair.” The recorded vote associated with that motion was yes.

In addition to that action, Cardello was noted as having made or affirmed the motion to pay bills and payroll, reflecting participation in the committee’s routine fiscal approvals. No questions or objections were recorded from Cardello during this portion of the meeting, and the remarks made were entirely supportive in tone. Cardello did not introduce any alternative position or amendment; instead, the member endorsed the superintendent’s strategic direction and moved the standard acceptance of the report.
