Everett Medal of Valor Ceremony for EPD Detective Dan Wall (Tuesday May 26, 2026)

Robert Brown, identified as the Everett Police Department chaplain, delivered the invocation at the Everett Medal of Valor Ceremony for EPD Detective Dan Wall on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. His remarks were prayerful and centered on gratitude, honor, and protection for Wall, his family, and other police officers.

Brown opened by asking the audience to “Let us bow our heads.” He then addressed “Almighty God,” saying that those present came “with hearts filled of gratitude and honor” as they lifted up “this courageous officer, Dan Wall, who has been awarded the Medal of Valor.” In his prayer, Brown thanked God for Wall’s “bravery, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment” and described the Medal of Valor as recognition of conduct shown “in the face of danger.”

Brown framed valor as more than a single act, saying, “We recognize that true valor is more than an act. It is a calling.” He defined that calling as “the willingness to stand in the gap for others, to protect the vulnerable, to run toward danger while others run away,” and thanked God for placing “that spirit within Dan.” He also connected the honor to the people affected by Wall’s service, saying it should remind those present “not only of heroic deeds, but also of the lives that were touched, protected, and preserved through faithful service.”

He prayed for Wall’s continued wellbeing, asking for divine protection and for God to “guard his mind,” “guard his heart,” and “guard his family” through “every long shift, every late night call, and every uncertain moment.” Brown also asked that Wall continue to be guided “in righteousness, integrity, and compassion,” and that he “never lose sight of humility, mercy, and justice.”

Brown extended the prayer to “every police officer who faithfully serves their community with honor,” asking for wisdom, strength, courage, and compassion. He closed by calling the Medal of Valor “a testimony of courage under pressure, sacrifice in service, and dedication beyond duty,” and ended in prayer “In the name of the Father, the Son, and the holy spirit. Amen.”
