Everett School Committee (Monday June 1, 2026)

Dr. John Braga, Principal of Everett High School, opened the June 1, 2026 Everett School Committee meeting and served as master of ceremonies for the Everett High School Scholarship Awards Night. He began by introducing himself — “My name’s Doctor Braga. I’m the principal of Everett High School” — and welcomed attendees on behalf of the Class of 2026. He asked the audience to stand for the scholarship recipients and led applause for them, saying, “why don’t we give a big round of applause for our scholarship recipients.”

Braga recognized a number of guests and school officials present, including Mayor Robert Van Campen, Superintendent William Hart, School Committee members Samantha Hurley, Joanna Guerin, and Robin Babcock, as well as assistant superintendents Dennis Lynch, Chris Barrett, and Margaret Adams, Communications Director Dave O’Connor, and Strategic Initiatives Director Rosemary Hughes. He also thanked EHS administration, teachers, and staff for their work supporting the event.

In his remarks, Braga framed the evening as “a celebration of achievement, perseverance, dedication, and opportunity,” and emphasized that “tonight is about our students, the class of 2026.” He congratulated the scholarship recipients and thanked families and loved ones for their support. He then introduced Superintendent Hart for remarks and later returned to introduce Mayor Van Campen.

Braga also guided the evening’s school presentation program, moving from one department to the next and helping transition between segments. He introduced the health department, physical education and athletics, English language arts, special education, social studies, science, math, world language, career and technical education, and the assistant principal/vice principal team. He thanked presenters after each segment and offered brief encouragement, including “Good job.”

The meeting record also shows Braga voting yes on the motion to “pay bills and payroll in the amount of $2,271,989.40.” He also voted yes on two motions to enter executive session.
