Everett Public Schools has opened kindergarten registration for the 2026–2027 school year, with appointments starting Monday, May 4 through the Parent Information Center inside City Hall.
That is the actual news here. Not a policy fight. Not a press conference. Just the yearly process families need to deal with if they want a seat for the fall.
The city says parents or guardians need to schedule an appointment with the Parent Information Center, or PIC, to begin registration. All appointments are held at PIC in Everett City Hall.
The one item that is actually new this year is the launch of two dual language immersion programs for incoming kindergarten students.
According to the city, “A Portuguese/English Dual Immersion program will be offered at Parlin Elementary” and “A Spanish/English Dual Immersion program will be offered at the Keverian Elementary.”
There is a catch, and it matters if families hear “new program” and assume they can just sign up anywhere. The city says, “To enroll in either program, your family must live in that school’s home district.”
In plain English, that means geography still rules. If your address is not in the right school district, the new language program is not an option, no matter how interested you are.
The city is also warning that “spots are limited.” That is the sort of line every district uses, but in this case it is still worth taking seriously. If you have a child entering kindergarten in 2026, waiting around is probably not the smart play.
Families can make an appointment through the city’s registration link and find more information through the Everett Public Schools website.
This is also a reminder of how much routine city business now gets pushed out as polished website copy instead of clear, complete instructions in one place. The city tells families to book an appointment and points them to the schools website, but does not do much in the announcement itself to spell out what documents parents should have ready before showing up at City Hall.
So the important part is simple: registration is open, the Parent Information Center is handling it, and the new dual-language options are district-specific at Parlin and Keverian.
If you have a child headed to kindergarten, this is one of those city deadlines that affects your real life a lot more than whatever performative argument is happening at the next public meeting.
